Oh, hello!

Me at the end of my senior year by a huge tree at my college, site of one of my (and a few friends') nerdiest moments our freshman year
I feel a bit awkward trying to decide how to start out with this blog.  I graduated from a small liberal arts college in southern Indiana last May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with Environmental Science and Geology minors.  I had plans to begin an internship at the Teton Science School a few days later, but had to change plans when we found out three days before graduation that my mother had breast cancer.  Luckily, I was able to change plans to be home with my family to help as much as I could through the surgeries, doctor appointments, chemo treatments, etc.  Now, after way too many road bumps along the way and some other family issues, I am starting out again.  I am looking for employment, ideally in environmental research and/or education and/or with State and National Parks (all what I've wanted to do since I was quite young), but especially in this economy, I've found that I definitely need to keep it pretty broad.

I think this blog will end up being a lot different than I visualize right now, but will probably at least chronicle my journey to employment, and then beyond that to the adventures in "real life" that will come.  I feel almost obligated to do a really cool "About Me" section to kick off, but hopefully enough of who I am will come through in my postings that you'll get the point.  If not, just ask what you want to know.
